Gunnar Kaj is the illustrator who works mostly with flowers. He has designed the flower arrangements for fourteen Nobel Banquets in Stockholm City Hall. He has made several flower exhibitions in the Royal palace at Drottningholm, Stockholm. Also at the Thiel Gallery, at Rosendal Gardens, Wij Gardens, Ulriksdal and Skokloster palaces and at Sofiero and Fredriksdal palaces in the south of Sweden he has designed exhibitions. For the Swedish government he has made decorations in Brussels, a Midsummer flower event at the Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China and a tribute to Carl von Linné at the Swedish Cultural Centre in Paris, France. He took part in the Swedish Style event in Tokyo. Invited by Asocolflores he held showings at Proflora in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2013 Gunnar made inauguration flower decorations for Kennedy Center of the performing arts in Washington, USA at their festival Nordic Cool.
Gunnar Kaj has been a freelancer for more than 25 years, starting off as an illustrator for magazines, publishing houses and organisations. He illustrated Christmas stamps for the Swedish Post. He has a BA in Arts Education from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. He has presented exhibitions at the Garden Society in Gothenburg and in Drottningholm Palace Garden. His book ”Låt det blomma!” (Let there be flowers!) is published by Norstedts publishing house as is his second book "Blommande rum" (Rooms in bloom).
